Welcome to Lakeway

Lake Way is on the south shore of Lake Travis and 25 miles northwest of downtown Austin. Lake Way was originally founded on the site of a 2,700-square-foot ranch and rapidly expanded from a small retirement community to a haven for families, young professionals, and vacationers. Tucked into the vistas of the Texas Hill Country, the area’s proximity to Lake Travis offers its residents an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities.

Although the area houses a diverse range of architectural styles, from sprawling waterfront estates to new gated communities, Lake Way’s homes are typically designed to exist in harmony with the natural landscape. The neighborhood is especially attractive by virtue of its highly distinguished school district and the economic opportunities that come with living close to the city.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Lake Way locals reap the rewards of abundant lakeside amenities, resort-style luxuries, and the many conveniences of suburban life. Although downtown Austin is only a 30-minute drive away, Lake Way operates an independent local government, including its own police and fire departments and medical facilities. The community’s tight-knit, family-oriented culture is evident in the parents' close involvement with the Lake Travis school district.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Regardless of Lake Way’s proximity to Austin, its residents need not leave the area to indulge in the pleasures of fine dining and quality retail therapy. In addition to the sprawling Hill Country Galleria Mall, The Oaks at Lakeway hosts a wide variety of boutiques, restaurants, and spas within its beautiful outdoor plaza. Visitors at The Oaks might enjoy a relaxing treatment at Massage Heights followed by the authentic flavors of North Indian cuisine at Zest Indian Kitchen and Bar.

Foodies will enjoy the quality wine and stunning views found at The Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen, a sophisticated restaurant chain that has garnered critical acclaim throughout the Austin Metro Area. Those seeking the satisfaction of a shopping spree will be pleased to discover the abundance of classy boutiques in the neighborhood, including Adorn, Tribeca, and Point of Origin.
