Welcome to Barton Creek

An emerald jewel set in the sprawling Hill Country of Texas is an affluent community of custom-built modern estates and luxury apartments. The neighborhood with postcard-worthy surroundings effuses an air of luxurious leisure. People enter the expansive Barton Creek Wilderness Park to embrace natural wonders such as the Barton Creek Greenbelt and Barton Springs Pool.

Zilker Park spans 350 acres of urban public greenspace beloved and enjoyed by local Austin communities. It is a lovely place to picnic and play field sports, like volleyball and disc golf. A mini-train chugging through the park has delighted park-goers for sixty years: first the Zilker Eagle from 1961-1996, then the Zilker Zephyr from 1997-2019. A fully-electric mini-train will debut in the near future. Tickets sold for the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival raise funds for projects renovating and restoring the park. Happening every Saturday, the Barton Creek Farmers Market takes pride in being “Austin’s First and Best” open-air market where locally farmed produce and artisanal wares are sold.

What to Love

  • Zilker Park and Barton Creek Greenbelt
  • Barton Springs Pool, always an ideal temperature for swimming
  • Members-only access to world-class club and resort amenities, and elegant dining
  • Close to rowdy downtown Austin, yet feels like a remote destination

Local Lifestyle

Members of the Barton Creek Country Club have plenty to pencil into their personal itineraries and social calendars: exclusive events, tennis, golfing, swimming, working out at the fitness center, and meals in the private dining room. An added benefit of membership is access to the 4-star hotel Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa and their amenities.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Affiliated with the Omni property are seven restaurants and lounges for exquisite casual and fine dining experiences. Texas Spice makes local, balanced breakfast available buffet style or made-to-order. For grab-and-go ease, Velvet Joe’s has a limited food menu, freshly baked pastries, and piping hot coffee.

Prime cuts of beef are plated at Bob’s Steak and Chop House. Golfers can sustain camaraderie off the course over lunch or dinner at Canyon’s Grill and Crenshaw’s Bar & Eatery, named in tribute to Austin native and retired pro golfer Ben Crenshaw.

Jim Bob’s Lobby Lounge offers splendid nature views while you nibble on snack plates and enjoy craft cocktails. A low-key poolside restaurant, Nopales, serves Latin-American cuisine and refreshing beverages, like their Desert Pear cocktail. Lighter fare at Blind Salamander Kitchen and Bar focuses on seafood, like oysters on the half shell with cocktail and house hot sauce, or broiled with garlic butter and house barbecue sauce. Off resort you will find the Market at Barton Creek and Cafe, a convenience store and deli the community has deemed a hidden gem. The Barton Creek Square indoor shopping mall possesses 180 premium stores and eateries.

Things to Do

Among the lush foliage of the breathtaking Barton Creek Greenbelt are wooded trails for hiking, wildlife observing, and mountain biking, as well as limestone bluffs for rock climbing. There are several accessible entrances to trailheads, swimming holes, and climbing walls like the challenging Seismic Wall cliff for instance. The Spyglass access point is favored for its proximity to Tacodeli, a taqueria open breakfast through dinner.

Within Zilker Park is Barton Springs Pool, fed by the Edwards Aquifer, inviting crowds to dive right in or lounge about the water’s edge. The Springs is not only a balmy oasis for swimming but a sanctuary for the endangered Barton Springs salamander.
